Check Out TCR’s Fall Shows

lastfiveyearsCedar Rapids – Theatre Cedar Rapids has three very different shows coming up this fall – The Last Five Years, Calendar Girls and The Weir.

The Last Five Years, which opens Friday in the Grandon Studio, stars Emily Reiter and Alex Anderson as Cathy and Jamie, two lovers whose five year relationship is told in a rather unique way. Cathy tells her version of the story backwards, while Jamie tells his version chronologically. They meet only once, in the middle of the play at their wedding. It’s the sort of intimate musical that should work well in the Grandon Studio. You can get tickets here.

Opening September 11 in the Main Auditorium, Calendar Girls tells the story of a group of, ahem, mature women who pose nude for a calendar to raise money for charity. It’s based on a true story. Here’s the cast:

Chris-Nina Swanson
Annie-Marty Norton
Jessie-Cherryl Moon Thomason
Ruth-Amy Rehnstrom
Cora-Tamsin McAtee
Celia-Anne Ohrt
Marie-Nadine Borngraeber
Lady Cravenshire-Nancy Mortimore
Brenda-Kim Benser
John-Kevin Burford
Rod-Jon Day
Liam-Bryant Duffy
Lawrence-Brett Borden
Elaine-Anna Slife

Finally, opening October 16 in the Grandon Studio, The Weir is a play filled with ghostly stories. Its been described as “hauntingly evocative” and sounds like the perfect play for the Halloween season. Here’s the cast:

Jack –  Tim Boyle
Brendan – John Zbanek-Hill
Jim – Bill Cruise
Finbar – Brian Sanny
Valerie – Mindy Oberreuter
