Amana – The Iowa Theatre Artists Company (ITAC) in Amana needs Actors for two upcoming Concert Theatre (Book-In-Hand) Performances: Peter Goodchild’s The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial and H.G. Wells’ The War Of The Worlds. A one-week commitment is required from September 14-20 for The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial which includes three performances, September 18-20. The War Of The Worlds will require a one week commitment from October 26 – November 1, with three performances October 31 – November 1. Both shows are fundraising events for ITAC and actors will be compensated with a travel stipend.
The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial was adapted into script form by Peter Goodchild from the original Scopes Monkey Trial transcripts. Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan squared off as the nation listened to the first live-from-the-courtroom radio broadcast. Thirteen years later The War Of The Worlds, in a live broadcast on October 30, 1938, became an historic event in its own right.
