Waterloo – The Waterloo Community Playhouse is proud to announce the cast for their upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors. The comedy horror musical follows a hapless florist shop worker, Seymour, who raises a plant that develops a taste for human blood. The music is in the style of the early 1960’s including touches of rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown. Little Shop of Horrors will perform October 16-25. Ashley Rogers (AUDREY) returns to the WCP stage after a brief hiatus. But she has remained busy in the local theatre community appearing in shows at CFCT, Theatre 40 and Theatre UNI. She is a dreamer, a singer, a fashionista at heart and a connoisseur of all things coffee. Ashley loves the theatre and all the wonderful aspects it has brought to her life.
Carter Allen (SEYMOUR) recently graduated from Minnesota State University-Mankato with a BFA in Acting. He was last seen on our stage as Dennis in All Shook Up. In November, he will start a tour with the National Theatre for Children performing an educational improvised theatre piece for Middle School aged students.
Gary Baumgartner (MUSHNIK) retired after 28 years working at Clark, Butler, Walsh & Hamann Law offices in 2011. But he hasn’t let the grass grow under his feet. Since retiring Gary and his wife Donna are now owners & operators of Viewpoint Adventures Safari Company. They are also the principals of Positive Outook Association which supports a school and orphanage in Tanzania. When he has a spare moment, he likes to spend as many of those as possible on the golf course.
David Marsh (CUSTOMER/SNIP) recently got married at Niagara Falls. He has been seen on the WCP stage in Les Miserables and Tons of Money. He is originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania and moved to the area about 2 years ago.
John Hilber (BERNSTEIN/MARTIN) is the General Manager of the Arby’s in Evansdale. He has a BA in Theatre Arts from Viterbo University in Wisconsin where he appeared in several shows. Since moving to Iowa, his only other onstage performance was at CFCT in 2006’s She Loves Me.
Katie Klingfus (STREET URCHIN) is a Senior at Hudson High School. She has appeared in three shows there. She was last seen at WCP as a member of the chorus in Wizard of Oz.
Don Osterhaus (INTERVIEWER/POLICE OFFICER) first appeared on the WCP stage as Mayor Shinn in The Music Man. He holds BA degrees in English and Humanities and an MA in Library Science from UNI. He recently retired from Grundy Center Community Schools. He has enjoyed traveling to England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Scotland. Don once walked 150 miles to see Pope John Paul II in Des Moines.
Donna Baumgartner (LUCE/BAG LADY) is a retired Special Education teacher who with her husband Gary owns and operates Viewpoint Adventures Safari Company. She has performed in over 25 shows here at WCP dating back to 1980. Donna has also served as choreographer both here and at CFCT.
Kenesha Davis (CHIFFON) is making her debut. She is an Outreach and Enrollment Specialist at People’s Clinic. She has participated in the North End Music Festival since 2013.
Keisha Dedrick (RONNETTE) is also making her WCP debut. She holds a B.S. in Psychology from Upper Iowa University. She sings with the Waterloo Gospel All Stars. She loves to bake specialty cakes and desserts.
Jens Petersen (ORIN) is a Fraud Administrator with the CBE Companies. He holds a BA in Theatre from UNI. Jens got the chance to enjoy a trip to London last year. He has a pet dog named Amy and a ferret names Einstein (Einny). He was most recently seen onstage in last spring’s Tons of Money.
Jessica Lieb (CRYSTAL) is the choir teacher for 3 choirs at Bunger Middle School. She is originally from Dubuque. She moved to Waterloo in 2013 to pursue her love of teaching music. She also gets to continue her love of performing not only with WCP, but with the Metropolitan Chorale. She was last seen on our stage as WHORE #2 in Les Miserables.
Joshua Pannhoff (THE PLANT/AUDREY II) is a Senior at UNI with a double major in Communications and Psychology. He was last seen on our stage as HORTON THE ELEPHANT in Seussical. He is originally from Clear Lake. He would like to offer this piece of advice, “Don’t listen to everyone! FEED THE PLANT!”
Cody Hoien (PUPPETEER) is a 5th year Senior at UNI pursuing a theatre major. He is originally from Brooklyn, Iowa. Cody is a member of the Half-Masted Improv troupe and enjoys fencing and water sports. He plans on pursuing a career in acting, specifically in voice acting and puppetry.
